Dynamics of circular disk motion with momentum decay in a quasi-2D ‡fluid

In this talk we discuss the dynamics of circular disk motion with momentum decay in a quasi-2D fl‡uid. The main idea is borrowed from P. Mazur’'s paper "On the motion and Brownian motion of n spheres in a viscous ‡fluid" published in Physica 110A (1982). The signifi…cant differences between P. Mazur'’s paper and ours are (1) we consider the quasi-2D case (2) we consider the momentum decay situation in the equations of motion of the fl‡uid and circular disks.

In order to grasp the physical pictures of this issue more clearly, two approaches are given to analyze it. They are Approach I: Exactly analytical approach, and Approach II: Modi…fied and approximated approach. We think that our study can be beneficial to understand the movement behaviors of the assembled molecular-size objects attached on cell membranes and even offer future possible applications in industrial related fields.
