W boson production in pPb collisions at sqrt(s) = 5.02 TeV with CMS detector

Electroweak W bosons do not participate in strong interaction, and thus constitute clean probes of initial state of nuclues-nuclues collisions. They provide constraints on nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDF), in particular, the W bosons prove a unique constraint on sea quark distribution. The results of W boson production in pPb collisions at nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 5.02 TeV are presented for muon plus neutrino and electron plus neutrino decay channels with data sample collected by the CMS detector. The W boson differential cross-section, lepton-charge asymmetry and forward/backward asymmetry are measured as a function of the lepton pseudo-rapidity of transverse momentum higher than 25 GeV/c. The comparison to theoretical predictions is also presented.
